About the Surveys -

Because true learning almost always involves spaced repetition, The Galileo Initiative has developed a learning process that starts with a measurement of the current perceptions within your organization and concludes with a series of spaced reinforcement lessons.

Measurement:
The measurement process is accomplished by means of a survey that measures beliefs about your organization's purpose, products, processes, resources, personnel and procedures. What people believe about these things can either unleash the power of new initiatives or stifle them in their infancy.

Accurately measuring these perceptions is often difficult. Fear of being judged or sharing something unpopular that may prove career limiting have made some of us wary of sharing everything we feel and believe. Because of the powerful impact, positively and negatively, that beliefs have on organizations, The Galileo Initiative considered it to be important to create a methodology to surface beliefs in a way that is constructive, contributory and safe.

Independent Survey:
The Galileo Initiative contracted with an independent survey group, known as Alpine Media to design the basic survey. This organization is led by Psychometricists and Statisticians of international reputation. These experts have created a core survey tool with unlimited customization capability that surfaces what people really believe about the organization in a way that keeps those individuals safe and secure.

Confidentiality:
Detail information shared on-line by the survey participant cannot be accessed by the client organization. No link between the participant and the data is requested or maintained. This is intended to create an environment where people can share what they really believe in a way that cannot be traced back to them, so that honesty and openness are not compromised.
Setting up the Surveys -

The survey forms the first part of the Galileo learning experience.  Coupled with a full day of live training and the optional 12 week Post-Workshop eLearning Modules, the client can access a powerful and proven way to get perceptions out in the open where they can be dealt with productively and purposefully.

Clients who wish to explore the survey and the various live training offerings should contact a Galileo Initiative sales consultant at Sales Consultant.   Working with that consultant, decisions can be made about the type of survey that will best serve the organization's needs.

How long will it take to set up?
As a general rule, once a decision has been made to move ahead, setting up one of the standard surveys can be done almost immediately. Customization can take as long as 7-10 business days, depending on the complexity and amount of customization required. Costs for customization can be obtained from a Galileo Initiative sales consultant.

How do I know it will be valid?
Accurately measuring perceptions is often difficult. Fear of being judged or sharing something unpopular that may prove career limiting have made some of us wary of sharing everything we feel and believe.  Because of the powerful impact, positively and negatively, that beliefs have on organizations, The Galileo Initiative, in conjunction with Alpine Media, has created a methodology to surface beliefs in a way that is constructive, contributory and safe.

Taking the Surveys -

The survey is accessed via the Internet. Once it is set up and ready to use, the client will receive a survey access code. The access code is required to access the on-line survey, but it is not associated with any information that would identify the participant. Your sales consultant will work to provide this information via e-mail once any customization has been completed.

When do we take the survey?
A cut-off date will be established for taking the survey. That date is at least 2-4 days prior to the live training date for a particular group. This allows the survey results to be analyzed by the training consultant and to incorporate relevant portions of the survey results in the live training.

How long does the survey take?
The survey normally takes 10-20 minutes to complete (depending on the number of questions and individual speed in answering them).

Can I take a sample survey?
Yes. A sample survey for one of our programs is available on this Web site under "Surveys", "Do Survey". It allows you to actually take a survey and then view a complete report with data accumulated from other participants. You will need to register in order to receive an access code, or contact a Galileo sales representative. If you register on-line the access code will be sent to you via email.

To obtain an access code, click Register.
Receiving Results -

The Galileo Initiative sales consultant and the client representative are able to access the survey results as soon as the survey is completed. These reports include group data only and cannot be traced back to individual respondents. Information on how to access this data is sent to the client via e-mail.

What do the results look like?
If only a single access code is assigned to all participants, the results will show each question and the percentage of participants that selected each answer. If multiple access codes were assigned, thereby breaking up the survey by divisions, groups or departments, etc., then the results can be a separate report for each group, or a consolidated report that aggregates the results of all the surveys, or a side-by-side format with each survey group in a column plus a column for the consolidated averages.

To view a sample of a simple report, click Simple Report

To view a sample of a side-by-side report, click Side-by-side Report

Who can view the results?
After the live training session, clients are free to share the full report with participants. The client copy, which was available on-line, can easily be shared with all involved. We request that the data not be shared prior to the live training, as that data and its interpretation form a critical part of the workshop experience.
Reading Reports -

Prior to the live training portion of the learning process the Galileo sales consultant will spend time with the client analyzing the results. This conversation will include understanding the data and what it says as well as the selection of 2-3 perception data sets which will be used as case studies in the live training.

Individuals who wish help in understanding the data in their copy of the report should contact their organizational representative/sponsor.
Other Options -

Once an organization has completed the survey and the live training it can commission follow-up surveys on issues that may arise from time to time for any particular group.

With the tools and insights the team members have acquired going through the Galileo training they will be able to take new survey data and use it in a way that empowers them with a clear understanding of the realities of new initiatives.

For information and pricing on using the survey as a management tool with your group or organization please contact your Galileo Initiative sales consultant.
